According to glavcom.ua: In the Sever direction, a Ukrainian soldier was killed while surrendering in the military zone near the village of Svyato-Pokrovsk. Observing the weather conditions, enemy troops attacked the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, resulting in the death of a serviceman from the 10th separate mountain assault brigade 'Edelweiss'.

During a search of a private house, Russian soldiers found a Ukrainian defender who, raising his hands, decided to surrender. However, this led to his injury and subsequent death due to enemy fire.

The investigation is probing the crime

The Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office has initiated a pre-trial investigation into the murder of a Ukrainian soldier in the Sever direction. Investigative actions are being conducted to establish the circumstances and individuals responsible for this war crime. Such unlawful actions by Russian troops are serious violations of international conventions and are considered grave international crimes.

Russian troops continuously commit violations of international humanitarian law by using violence against Ukrainian prisoners of war. These actions are documented for further prosecution of those responsible.

The occupier who killed civilians received a life sentence

A Russian occupier held captive, who killed civilians during fighting near Kupiansk, was sentenced to life imprisonment. This concerns 21-year-old recidivist Artem Kulikov, who participated in the 23rd motorized rifle brigade of the sixth general army of the Russian Federation. He was mobilized from Nizhny Novgorod prison at the end of 2024, where he was serving time for robbery and theft.

A Ukrainian soldier was killed in captivity while attempting to surrender to Russian occupiers. The investigation is probing this war crime to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.
