British Crypto Miner Buying a Landfill: An Unusual Reason
Британський криптоінвестор планує придбати сміттєзвалище: несподіваний поворот подій

British miner James Howells continues to search for his lost hard drive containing bitcoins in a landfill, but now he has decided to buy the site. Local authorities have reported plans to close the waste site, and now Howells is trying to address this situation.

The hard drive ended up in the landfill after the miner's girlfriend accidentally threw it in the trash. Howells has not lost hope of finding his bitcoins and has been actively searching for them since then. The value of the lost bitcoins has reached $750 million, which has generated even more interest in the search.

However, the city council has already denied Howells' requests to excavate at the landfill nine times. The court also upheld the authorities' position in January 2025. But Howells is not giving up and has decided to buy the landfill to avoid losing his chances.

The amount he is willing to spend remains undisclosed.

Interestingly, in Finland, homes are heated using mining farms. Marathon Digital Holdings utilizes the thermal energy produced from cryptocurrency mining to heat homes.

In the U.S., there is also a woman who makes $10,000 collecting trash. She started this unusual hobby as a teenager and was able to turn it into a source of income.
