According to glavcom.ua: Igor Shevchenko expressed his opinion regarding the engagement of Ukrainian singer Melovin and Petr Zloti, considering that such footage offends believers and those who are unwilling to see it. He spoke out against LGBT propaganda, deeming it disgraceful and supporting the idea of banning this kind of promotion.
Regarding the rights of sexual minorities, Shevchenko urged them to express their feelings in privacy rather than globally. These public statements sparked controversy online, where he was accused of homophobia and using this topic for his own promotion.
Shevchenko strongly opposed the public display of non-traditional relationships, calling it a propaganda of the unnatural and offensive to many. Therefore, he supports the ban on such publicity, which, in his opinion, is not liked by society.
Furthermore, Igor Shevchenko is previously known for his sexist and ageist remarks, as well as attempts to find a partner through billboards.
