According to Главком: The prosecutors of the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor's Office, together with detectives from the Bureau of Economic Security (BEB), uncovered a scheme that caused losses to the territorial community of almost 3.5 million UAH during the procurement of landscaping services in Chernivtsi. According to information, the abuses occurred in 2022, when officials inflated the estimated documentation for the execution of works.

As part of the investigation, it was established that the contract for landscaping works was concluded for a total amount of 18.2 million UAH. It is worth noting that only one contractor participated in the bidding, which raised suspicions about the transparency of the tender process.

Suspects and consequences

The suspects in this case are the former director, now the first deputy of one of the departments of the city council, as well as the deputy head of the public procurement department. This disclosure has become an important step in the fight against corruption and abuses in the field of public procurement at the local level.
