Meta changes its AI strategy for the fourth time in six months: what we know about the new reorganization
The American company Meta Platforms has planned a reorganization in the field of artificial intelligence, which will be the fourth in the last six months. The new division Superintelligence Labs will consist of four separate groups:
- TBD Lab ('to be determined later')
- The product development team, which will include the Meta AI assistant
- The infrastructure development team
- The Fundamental AI Research Lab (FAIR), which will focus on long-term research
The main goal of these changes is to accelerate the work on artificial general intelligence (AGI) to create new revenue sources. Earlier, a reorganization took place in Superintelligence Labs, prompted by the dismissal of senior employees and poor reception of Meta's open-source model - Llama 4.
Investments and changes at Instagram
Meta is actively investing in this direction, having attracted investments to expand its data center in Louisiana and plans to build massive data centers. At the same time, Instagram has made changes requiring users to have a public account with a minimum of 1,000 followers to conduct live broadcasts on the platform.
Previously, anyone could conduct live broadcasts, but now this opportunity is limited. This move has been a real blow to the users of the social network.
After the last reorganization, Meta Platforms has established a new structure, Superintelligence Labs, aimed at accelerating work on artificial intelligence. At the same time, Instagram has taken an important step by limiting live broadcasts to users with a public account and at least 1,000 followers.
