IBU excludes neutral athletes from qualification for the 2026 Olympics

The International Biathlon Union (IBU) has decided to exclude the possibility of neutral athletes, including Russians and Belarusians, from qualifying for the 2026 Olympic Games. This was reported by the IBU press service, referring to the rules of events and competitions. Thus, Russian and Belarusian athletes will be prohibited from participating in this sport.

It is worth noting that Russian and Belarusian biathletes have been excluded from international competitions since 2022 due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Information about this appeared after the Russian aggression against Ukraine and the support of military activities by athletes and officials.

The 2026 Olympic Games will take place in the Italian cities of Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo from February 6 to 22. Thus, Russian and Belarusian athletes will be prohibited from participating in important events at these competitions.

Following Russian aggression against Ukraine and the support of military activities by athletes and officials, the IBU decided to exclude Russians and Belarusians from qualifying for the 2026 Olympic Games. Thus, these athletes will not have the opportunity to participate in this sport.
