Officials declared cryptocurrency worth 786 million hryvnias: what does the NACP do

The National Agency for Prevention of Corruption (NACP) reported that officials are increasingly including information about cryptocurrency in their declarations.

According to the Declaration Registry, 2.2 thousand submitted reports from the last year reflected crypto assets worth 786 million UAH. The number of declarants indicating the presence of funds in cryptocurrency is increasing every year.

As of 2024, 2.2 thousand declarations contained information about cryptocurrency worth 786 million UAH

The indicated amount includes several years of growth: for 2022 - by 371 million UAH, for 2023 - by 526 million UAH.

The NACP notes that some declarants are trying to use cryptocurrency to 'hide' illegally acquired assets. Among the frequent violations in declarations are the inability to confirm the existence of cryptocurrency, providing incorrect data regarding assets and their characteristics.

The NACP reported that more and more officials are including information about cryptocurrency in their declarations. The number of declarants indicating the presence of funds in cryptocurrency is increasing, but some individuals are trying to use this mechanism to hide illegally acquired assets.
