Anthropic Launches AI Assistant for Human Resources Teams
According to AIHR: Anthropic has introduced Claude for HR, an artificial intelligence tool designed to automate core human resources functions. This new plugin for the Claude Cowork application assists with drafting job descriptions, creating onboarding plans, preparing performance reviews, and analyzing compensation data. It integrates with various workplace systems, including Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), calendars, email, chat platforms, knowledge bases, and compensation datasets.
Recent industry surveys indicate a significant uptick in AI adoption within HR departments, with 43% of organizations now using AI for HR tasks-a 17% increase from the previous year. However, testing by AIHR has revealed substantial inaccuracies in Claude for HR's compensation benchmarking feature, particularly for senior roles. When compared to data from Ravio, only 16% of the figures provided by Claude were within a ±5% margin of error. A further 23% showed a deviation of 5% to 15%, while a critical 61% were off by more than 15%. The tool performed worst for senior individual contributors (ICs), where it underestimated compensation by 50% to 80%.
AIHR strongly advises that data from Claude for HR should be treated as a preliminary guide rather than a definitive source for final decisions.

Claude for HR offers six built-in commands to handle a variety of personnel management tasks:

Getting started with the plugin involves a straightforward setup within the Claude Cowork app: users must download the app, enter Cowork mode, install the HR plugin, connect their relevant tools, set global instructions, and begin using slash commands. The AI's functionality allows users to perform specific actions such as conducting a compensation analysis, generating a job offer, creating an onboarding checklist, producing a staff report, structuring a performance review, or finding and interpreting a company policy.
Despite its identified shortcomings, Claude for HR can still serve as a useful aid for HR departments, provided its outputs are used with appropriate caution and subjected to professional review.
