Sugar at $3000 per kilogram: how people in Gaza survive amidst catastrophic hunger

Price per kilogram of sugar in Gaza
Усім відомо про жахливі ціни на базові продукти, але як мешканці Газії намагаються вистояти в умовах страшного голоду?

Food prices in Palestine are rising sharply, leading to widespread hunger. According to the deputy spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, Farhan Haq, sugar on local markets costs an amount equivalent to $2996 per kilogram. Eggs, chicken, and other types of meat have also disappeared from the market, leaving people with no alternatives. Even legumes and bread are critically insufficient for the most vulnerable population groups.

According to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, in just the last 24 hours, five people have died from malnutrition, and the total number of hunger-related deaths has already exceeded 200, half of which are children.

The situation in Gaza is described as catastrophic – hospitals are lacking space, medications, and equipment, while Israeli authorities deny access to emergency medical teams. The requirement to provide personal information about staff limits the capabilities of international NGOs, threatening to halt their operations in the region.

Previously, the Canadian Armed Forces delivered additional humanitarian aid to Gaza, and the UN expressed concern about a possible escalation of military operations in the region.

The situation in Palestine is critical, with a shortage of food and medical assistance, deepening the humanitarian crisis in the region.
