Ukraine's CEC Confirms New Lawmaker to Fill Vacant Parliamentary Seat

New MP recognized by CEC after replacement
Центральна виборча комісія України оголосила про призначення нового депутата, який заповнить вільне місце у Верховній Раді.

Serhiy Karabuta Appointed as a People's Deputy of Ukraine

According to Главком: The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Ukraine has officially recognized Serhiy Karabuta as a People's Deputy. He will fill the seat in the Verkhovna Rada left vacant following the death of Oleksandr Kabanov. Kabanov, a member of the 'Servant of the People' party, passed away on January 14 at the age of 52. The CEC received official documentation from the parliament confirming the early termination of Kabanov's mandate due to his death.

Serhiy Karabuta, who was next in line on the 'Servant of the People' party list at position 156, must now submit the required documents to the commission within twenty days. His appointment was formalized by a CEC decision, which stated it had reviewed the relevant documentation and recognized Karabuta as an elected People's Deputy of Ukraine. This process is a standard procedure for filling vacancies under Ukraine's electoral system.

Background of Serhiy Karabuta

Serhiy Karabuta was born on January 3, 1983, in Kyiv. In 2006, he graduated from the Institute of Tourism of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine with a degree in management and also from the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management. After his studies, Karabuta co-founded and served as director of the travel company 'Tropikana Travel' LLC. He also headed the Kyiv branch of 'Mandry Company' LLC. In the 2019 parliamentary election, Karabuta ran as a non-partisan candidate on the 'Servant of the People' party list for the Verkhovna Rada of the ninth convocation.

It is noteworthy that Roman Kravets, who was also recognized as a People's Deputy from 'Servant of the People', declined his mandate, which cleared the path for Serhiy Karabuta.

"I am yielding my place on the list to the most worthy person who follows me, the director of a travel agency - Roman Kravets."

The appointment of a new deputy is a key step in maintaining stability and representation within the Verkhovna Rada, particularly during a period of significant political and social challenges for Ukraine. Karabuta's confirmation also highlights the 'Servant of the People' party's continued approach of bringing new figures into politics, which may influence future legislative initiatives and parliamentary decisions.
