Ukraine received €4.1 billion from the EU: what the funds will be spent on
Ukraine received €4.1 billion from the EU – the last tranche from the European Union under the ERA Loans funded by revenues from frozen assets of the Russian Federation. The draft state budget for 2026 includes 20.1 billion hryvnias for science, including support for young scientists and collaboration with business. According to Roman Ermolichev, who heads the Ministry of Finance, this step is aimed at developing scientific research in Ukraine.
The Ministry of Finance also announced an additional grant of 936.6 million hryvnias for communities affected by the war. The government has improved the regulation of the activities of state financial control bodies and welcomes the decision of the High Court of England regarding the obligation to pay PrivatBank over $3 billion in compensation for damages by former owners. These steps are aimed at supporting economic stability and development in Ukraine.
