The State Bureau of Investigations uncovered a corruption scheme in the probation system, where the director of one of the institutions organized a vertical of illegal enrichment through the heads of branches across the Lviv region. It was eventually established that over 75 thousand hryvnias of illegal benefits were received.

'The documented scheme of collecting money in the Lviv region. Thus, the branch head systematically collected 'tribute' from subordinates and sent money to the capital, disguising it in coffee boxes. 'Coffee from Lviv' was sent by postal deliveries,' the DBR reported.

In addition, five more heads of district probation departments were involved in criminal activities, demanding part of the bonuses from employees under the threat of sanctions. Authorities are also checking for similar corruption schemes in other regions of Ukraine.

The corruption scheme in the probation system has been identified and dismantled, but the revelation of these criminal activities may prompt further reforms and changes in this area.
