DBR investigates the death of a conscript at the border with Moldova
According to glavcom.ua: DBR employees have initiated criminal proceedings regarding the death of a conscript who attempted to illegally cross the border between Ukraine and Moldova in the Odesa region. This information was published by the 'Hlavkom' edition, citing the DBR.
«According to preliminary data, on September 1 at around 6 p.m., the border patrol noticed two men climbing over protective structures and moving towards Moldova. They did not respond to the lawful demands of law enforcement officers. During the pursuit, the border guards fired several shots at the violators», the message states.
The body of one of the men with a gunshot wound, which was fatal, has been identified. The other man was detained at the scene by border guards. The deceased turned out to be a 23-year-old resident of Kharkiv, who had a passport and personal belongings for traveling abroad.
As part of the investigation under Part 3 of Article 365 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, DBR investigators examined the scene, seized personal belongings of the deceased and the weapon from which the shots were fired. Border guards and witnesses were interrogated. Further investigative actions are ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the tragedy.
Incident with the clergyman and the passenger in the Mercedes
During patrol, border guards stopped a Mercedes driving by a 50-year-old clergyman from one of the Transcarpathian monasteries. During the inspection, a 41-year-old resident of Sumy region was found hiding under robes in the back seat of the car.
