Ukraine elected to the Executive Board of UNESCO: Russia has suffered a defeat
At the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, the Ukrainian delegation performed, to say the least, very well. From October 30 to November 13, they negotiated the organization's action strategies in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. What happened there?
The delegation was approved by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and led by Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha. Following him in the team are the Deputy Minister and head of the National Commission of Ukraine for UNESCO Marianna Betza. And this was worth noting.
Victories and Decisions
Ukraine became part of the Executive Board of UNESCO for the years 2025-2029, defeating Russia and other candidates. In addition, our country is currently the vice-chair of the General Conference and the Culture Commission. Great!
Russia conceded due to its aggressive policies - it lost votes in the elections.
The session adopted a document that will help Ukraine preserve cultural heritage and develop education, science, and media during wartime. Another important point is that November 27 has been declared International Day of Involvement in Science and Kyiv has been designated as a City of Music by UNESCO.
As a result of the Ukrainian delegation's work, it confirmed its place among the leaders in UNESCO, strengthening the country's positions. Good news for Ukrainian diplomacy!
