The drone strike company of the State Border Service will be disbanded: reasons for the decision
Disbandment of the drone company in the State Border Service
According to glavcom.ua: A loud announcement from the State Border Service: the company of strike unmanned aerial systems of the 10th mobile unit will be disbanded because the unit failed to meet its tasks. This was reported by military service spokesman Andriy Demchenko, quoted by Interfax-Ukraine.
Initially, the unit, which was created by Yuriy Kasianov in April 2024, had 40 servicemen, but over time their number grew to a hundred.
According to Demchenko, the group made 560 sorties to hit enemy targets, using 299 drones. The maintenance costs exceeded 6 tons of fuel, portable radios, Starlink, laptops, and tablets.
However, no strikes on enemy targets were confirmed, which is why the unit was disbanded due to ineffectiveness. The fighters will be distributed among other units according to their specialties.
Reactions to the disbandment
Yuriy Kasianov complains about this decision, asserting that his unit was disbanded unfairly as it carried out successful strikes on Russian territory. The head of the Armed Forces, Robert Madiar Brovdi, calls for the preservation of specialists and the retention of experienced personnel.
A new grouping has been created to improve the management of unmanned systems and adapt to modern requirements.
The drone unit in the State Border Service was disbanded due to failures in task execution, although the maintenance costs were significant. The management ordered the distribution of personnel among other combat units. At the same time, the former commander of the unit asserts that the decision was unjust since their strikes were successful.
