According to hvylya.net: Last week, the head of the Lubny State Consumer Service was detained for bribery. Nearly 40 million hryvnias in foreign currency were found in his safe. 'The money was signed with characteristic letters corresponding to the initials of the leaders,' Popenko said. Bribes were taken through accounts disguised as payments for consulting services.

The State Consumer Service of Ukraine has become a 'money-extraction conveyor from businesses' instead of fulfilling its duties to protect consumer rights. This opinion was expressed by expert Oleg Popenko when commenting on the detention of the head of the Lubny State Consumer Service with 40 million hryvnias in a safe.

The expert noted that the detention in Lubny is just the tip of the iceberg, and dozens of corruption cases have occurred in the State Consumer Service. He emphasized that the agency distorts its primary functions and practically does not protect consumers, instead demanding money from businesses.

The State Consumer Service aims not to help citizens, but to enrich itself at their expense, targeting businesses, particularly in agriculture. The expert described this practice as a 'conveyor of business ripping-off,' demonstrating systemic corruption in state bodies.

In Oleg Popenko's opinion, the State Consumer Service of Ukraine has stopped protecting consumer rights, instead becoming a kind of 'conveyor' for extracting money from businesses. The detention of the head of the Lubny State Consumer Service only highlights the problem of corruption in state bodies and the detachment from its main functions of controlling food quality and protecting consumers.
