Over 200,000 Openings for Skilled Trades and Machine Operators in Ukraine
Key Findings from the Labor Market Study
According to ХВИЛЯ: The State Employment Service of Ukraine has released its annual labor market analysis, segmented by professional groups. The data reveals a particularly strong demand for skilled workers who operate tools, machinery, and technological equipment. In total, more than 204,000 job openings were recorded across these technical and industrial sectors last year.
Within the tool-using worker category, there were 57,000 vacancies and 47,000 job seekers. The sector for servicing machinery and complex units encompasses nearly 3,400 distinct professions and accounted for 78,000 open positions. The group of elementary occupations listed 69,000 vacancies for 74,000 applicants, while the category for helpers and laborers showed 19,000 openings and 25,000 candidates.
Most In-Demand Occupations
Among the most sought-after specialists in the tool-using group are:
- Seamstresses (5,800 vacancies)
- Repair Fitters (over 3,500 offers)
- Electricians (nearly 2,700 vacancies)
Consistently high demand persists for bakers, electric and gas welders, and plumbers. The most popular position of the year in the machine servicing sector was motor vehicle driver, with 18,000 job offers. Operators and stokers of boilers received over 21,000 requests from employers. In the agricultural and industrial sectors, tractor drivers, lathe operators, and CNC machine operators remain in high demand.
The list of sought-after positions in the elementary occupations group includes:
- Office Cleaners
- Loaders
- Packers
- Security Guards
This data points to an active and developing labor market in Ukraine, with strong demand for professionals across various economic sectors. These figures highlight a critical need for vocational training in technical fields, which are foundational to economic recovery and growth.
The findings underscore the importance of aligning educational programs with labor market needs, as the growing number of vacancies requires a corresponding level of qualification in the workforce.
