Drone Strikes Hit Russian City of Penza and a Communications Hub in Dubna
Developments in Russia and Ukraine
According to Главком: On July 1, the Russian city of Penza came under drone attack, sparking a fire. Preliminary reports indicate that a state-owned bearing factory was the target. This incident occurs amid an intensification of military operations by Ukraine's Defense Forces.
On June 30, Ukraine's Defense Forces carried out a second strike on a space communications center in Dubna, located in the Moscow region. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that
“long-range sanctions against Russia for this war have once again reached the space communications center in Dubna, Moscow region. This is a special satellite communications facility used, among other things, for reconnaissance and coordinating the activities of Russia's occupation contingent in Ukraine.”
Military Actions in Ukraine
Additionally, on June 29 and into the night of June 30, Ukraine's Defense Forces struck a road bridge in the temporarily occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region, as well as a railway bridge in occupied Crimea. These actions further underscore the active phase of military operations in the area.
Attacks on strategic assets inside Russia-such as the bearing plant in Penza and the space communications hub in Dubna-highlight an escalation of the conflict and a ramping up of Ukrainian military efforts. Importantly, these strikes could impact Russia's military capabilities and shape public opinion in both countries. The recent events demonstrate that Ukrainian forces continue to target infrastructure that supports occupation activities on Ukrainian territory.
The recent drone strikes in Penza and Dubna are part of a broader strategy by Ukraine's Defense Forces, who have been increasingly targeting vital infrastructure within Russia.
