Drones, First Aid and Countering Fakes: What Teenagers Now Learn in 'Ukraine Defense' Classes
According to hvylya.net: Many Ukrainian high school students are choosing a new educational program 'Ukraine Defense', which is becoming increasingly popular. According to official data from the Ministry of Education, 64% of students have already chosen this course.
The meeting with the program partners took place on July 11, 2025, at the Ministry of Education. During the event, it was announced that the first stage of modernization of 'Ukraine Defense' had been successfully completed. Now students not only study military regulations but also acquire practical skills: providing first aid, piloting drones, countering misinformation, and actions in emergency situations.
In particular, among the key achievements of the recent period:
- 965 centers created for teaching 'Ukraine Defense';
- A year of work with updated content and in a new format;
- 64% of high school students covered by teaching the new program in the centers;
- Training of 80 supervisors has been completed;
- 2 mandatory hours of the subject approved per week;
- The equipment list updated based on recommendations from teachers who worked in the centers for a year;
- Methodological recommendations for involving veterans have been developed.
By September 2027, it is planned to achieve 100% coverage of high school students with the new program. The event was attended by representatives of various organizations that uniquely collaborate to modernize the educational process. It is also important to note that the PFU will pay 5000 hryvnias for each student.
The 'Ukraine Defense' program is gaining popularity among Ukrainian high school students, as evidenced by the growing interest and plans for future coverage of all students. Additionally, collaboration of various organizations and financial support from the PFU make this program increasingly accessible and attractive to students.
