Webinar Announcement

According to ДСНС: The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (DSNS) is hosting a nationwide online webinar titled "Safe and Resilient Communities: Preparing Residential Housing for the Heating Season." Scheduled for September 18 at 10:00 AM, this event is designed for representatives of local communities, municipal authorities, condominium associations (OSBB), housing managers, and other responsible parties. The webinar aims to provide actionable guidance to enhance the safety and resilience of residential buildings during the upcoming heating season, along with protocols for responding to emergencies.

Webinar Topics

This event is part of the Civil Society Week and will cover a range of crucial subjects, including:

  • Fire safety measures for residential buildings and surrounding areas;
  • Safe operation of generators, charging stations, battery systems, and other backup power sources;
  • Organizing backup energy and water supply systems;
  • Proper use and maintenance of electrical networks, heating systems, and heat-generating equipment;
  • Building insulation practices compliant with fire safety standards;
  • Maintenance of evacuation routes and emergency exits;
  • Ensuring unhindered access for firefighting and emergency vehicles to residential properties;
  • Setting up and maintaining basic shelters;
  • Step-by-step actions for residents and responsible officials during fires, power outages, or interruptions in heating and water supply.

The webinar’s agenda includes practical strategies that communities and condominium associations can implement to boost the autonomy and safety of their residential infrastructure. Special focus will be placed on common violations and risks in multi-apartment buildings during winter, along with effective solutions to reduce their impact.

We encourage participation from local community representatives, OSBB members, property management companies, municipal service providers, and all individuals charged with ensuring the safe operation of residential housing stock.

This webinar represents a vital initiative in preparing for the heating season-especially as the safety of residential buildings becomes increasingly critical. Attendees will gain valuable knowledge and practical recommendations to significantly improve safety standards in their communities. Additionally, the event promotes a shared responsibility for maintaining secure housing conditions throughout the cold months.

As communities prepare for the upcoming heating season, it is crucial to consider not only the practical measures outlined in the webinar but also the broader context of regional support. In this regard, the government's recent decision to allocate 67 billion hryvnias for enhancing regional resilience underscores the importance of coordinated efforts in ensuring safety and preparedness across the country.
