According to ХВИЛЯ: Sir Richard Dearlove, a former chief of Britain's MI6, said Ukraine depends heavily on a continuous supply of intelligence routed through the American hub in Wiesbaden, Germany. He explained that this channel relies not only on the CIA but also on the National Security Agency's capabilities and U.S. satellite reconnaissance. Despite recent staffing purges at the CIA, Dearlove described the wider U.S. national-security machinery as still enormous, highly complex, and technologically sophisticated.

Dearlove made these remarks on the One Decision podcast, with a translated version carried by the Ukrainian outlet Khvylya. He noted that intelligence cooperation between Washington and Kyiv has returned to its previous level. The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) has observed that the intelligence-sharing approval from former U.S. President Donald Trump substantially improved the accuracy of Ukrainian strikes against Russian energy infrastructure. Such cooperation remains a politically sensitive issue in debates over Western support for Ukraine.

Dearlove also warned that if the Wiesbaden intelligence stream were cut off, President Volodymyr Zelensky's position would become significantly more complicated. A Ukrainian officer has said that the 2025 suspension of that intelligence exchange could have cost hundreds of lives.
