Storm Aftermath in Kyiv Region

According to Главком: Power crews have restored electricity to more than 200,000 households in the Kyiv region as of the morning of June 30, following severe weather that hit the area on June 29. A total of 127 teams are working around the clock to repair the grid. The storm initially knocked out power to 571 settlements across seven regions of Ukraine.

The Kyiv region was hit hardest, with 259 settlements still without electricity. Other affected areas include Chernihiv (186 settlements), Zhytomyr (53), Cherkasy (44), Khmelnytskyi (14), Ternopil (8), and Volyn (7). Strong winds accompanying the storm caused widespread damage to power lines and infrastructure.

Damage in Lviv

Lviv also suffered significant storm damage. High winds tore off part of the roof of the Shevchenkivskyi District Administration building. A six-year-old girl was hospitalized after being struck by lightning. Gusty winds toppled 30 trees across the city, with the highest concentration in the Halytskyi district (nine trees). In the Shevchenkivskyi district, seven trees fell, damaging the district administration building and seven vehicles.

“Since yesterday, DTEK energy workers have been continuously working to fix the damage from the powerful storm. The work is extremely complex and time-consuming,” company representatives noted.

Repair crews continue their efforts to restore power to all affected communities as quickly as possible.

The severe weather that swept through the Kyiv region and other areas caused significant infrastructure damage and widespread blackouts, highlighting the region's vulnerability to natural disasters. The tireless work of energy crews under difficult conditions is critical for restoring normal life in affected areas. This situation also underscores the urgent need to improve emergency response systems and strengthen infrastructure resilience against future extreme weather events.

The recent storm not only impacted power supply in the Kyiv region but also led to outages in other areas, including the left bank of Kyiv. This situation was exacerbated by a grid failure, causing significant disruption to residents.
