New EU Sanctions Package Targets Russia

According to Главком: Following the approval of the 20th sanctions package, the European Union has begun work on a 21st round of restrictions against Russia. The EU Council has also greenlit a fresh financial support package for Ukraine worth €90 billion over two years. These funds are earmarked for:

  • bolstering defense capabilities,
  • procuring weaponry,
  • and supporting energy systems and critical infrastructure.

EU Solidarity with Ukraine and Resolve to Act

The 20th sanctions package was finalized after a post by Estonia’s Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna, who noted that the EU had finally adopted this crucial set of measures. He also stressed that preparations for the next sanctions package are already underway.

“Russia is funding its aggression through energy exports. These pipelines must be completely shut off, including by banning maritime shipments of its oil,” Margus Tsahkna stated.

He added that the EU will continue to ramp up pressure until Russia ends the war and retreats to its internationally recognized borders.

These actions underscore the EU’s determination to counter Russian aggression and back Ukraine during this challenging period.

“Ukraine is not alone,” the minister emphasized, reaffirming Europe’s solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
