Financial Security Experts Share Key Recommendations

According to ХВИЛЯ: Printing a receipt immediately after withdrawing cash could expose you to fraud, according to financial security professionals. These slips often contain sensitive details such as your account balance, partial banking information, and transaction specifics. Many banks now advise clients to skip printing receipts unless absolutely necessary, since transaction amounts and details can be reviewed directly on the ATM screen or through a mobile banking app.

Staying Safe at the ATM

Experts emphasize the importance of caution when using ATMs. Their advice includes:

  • inspecting the machine for suspicious attachments or hidden cameras;
  • covering the keypad with your hand while entering your PIN;
  • declining assistance from strangers near the ATM.

If your card gets stuck, specialists urge you to contact your bank immediately.

Meanwhile, during the first quarter of 2025, the average amount Ukrainians withdrew in a single cash transaction rose by 18%, reaching 4,735 hryvnias. This increase points to a growing level of financial activity among the population. Earlier reports also indicated a general rise in cash withdrawals across Ukraine. The information was sourced from Click! via the publication Khvylia.

Given this uptick in financial engagement, the guidance from security experts is becoming increasingly relevant. As Ukrainians participate more actively in financial operations, taking precautionary measures to prevent fraud is essential. The rise in average withdrawal amounts may signal an economic recovery, but it also highlights the need for extra vigilance in all financial matters.
