FIFA changes the draw system for the 2026 World Cup: how it will affect the national team of Ukraine

FIFA has decided to change the seeding system for the 2026 World Cup to avoid matchups between favorites in the early stages of the tournament. The draw will create 12 groups of four teams, and the top 4 national teams (Spain, Argentina, France, England) will be placed in different quarters of the playoff bracket. This means their possible meetings will only occur in the later stages of the tournament.

The national team of Ukraine has successfully passed the first stage of qualification for the 2026 World Cup and is preparing for the playoffs. On March 26, our players will face the Swedish national team, and if they win, they will meet the winner of the Poland - Albania pair.
