Reflector saves lives

Ukraine is celebrating Road Safety Week. At night and during adverse weather conditions, risks on the roads increase. Pedestrians become almost invisible to drivers. To remind everyone about safety rules during this time, Road Safety Week is ongoing in Ukraine.

Rescuers and police interact with children, even conducting mobile safety lessons from UNICEF Ukraine. They explain that reflective elements are not just a trendy accessory, but also a way to save lives.

During one of these lessons in the Kyiv region, young children were told how to properly move along the street in the dark and how reflectors help drivers see pedestrians in advance.

These safety lessons are part of the work of the State Emergency Service and the National Police of Ukraine, aimed at forming a culture of safe behavior among children in autumn and winter. In addition to traffic rules, children are reminded about crisis behavior rules and taught about fire and mine safety.

This week, UNICEF Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the State Emergency Service, and the National Police of Ukraine launched the second wave of an informational and educational campaign aimed at increasing the safety of children, youth, and adults during winter.

Parents, please check if your child has reflectors on their clothing!

During this time of year, it is especially important not to forget about traffic rules and safety, especially when it is dark, dear reader!
