Modernization of Energy Infrastructure in Khmelnytskyi

According to ХВИЛЯ: France has allocated 13 million euros for a large-scale project aimed at modernizing the energy infrastructure in Khmelnytskyi. The project, implemented by 'Khmelnytskyioblenergo' in collaboration with EDF International Networks, is unique for Ukraine as it aims to convert the power grid to European voltage standards.

The modernization includes:

  • replacing voltage from 10 kV to 20 kV;
  • improving energy supply for over 19 thousand customers;
  • installing powerful 10/20 kV transformers at key substations;
  • laying 50 km of new cable lines;
  • upgrading 82 transformer substations to the new voltage level.

An important element of the project is the digitization of the system and the laying of fiber optics, which will allow for more effective management of energy resources. To prepare Ukrainian personnel for new technologies, special training will begin in March next year. The initiative is being implemented within the framework of an intergovernmental agreement between Ukraine and France.

Yurii Maievskyi, a representative of the project, noted that 'this project will serve as a roadmap for the entire energy sector of Ukraine.'

Thus, Khmelnytskyi has every chance to transition to modern European standards in the energy sector, leading to improved service quality for consumers.

Impact on Ukraine's Energy Integration

The modernization of the energy infrastructure in Khmelnytskyi will not only contribute to improving the energy supply of the region but may also be an important step in the overall process of Ukraine's integration into the European energy space. The support program from France reflects the growing international interest in Ukrainian energy reforms, which could attract additional investments in this sector. The successful implementation of the project could serve as an example for other regions of Ukraine striving to modernize their energy systems.
