'Energy Ramstein' Meeting Convenes

According to Кулеба: At a meeting of the 'Energy Ramstein' group, which includes the G7 and other partner nations, participants reaffirmed their commitment to deliver new humanitarian aid packages to Ukraine. The discussions focused on key areas for future collaborative efforts to support Ukraine's energy infrastructure, which has been a primary target of Russian attacks.

Financial Commitments and Practical Equipment

International partners have pledged substantial financial support, with the following contributions:

  • The United States will provide over $400 million;
  • The United Kingdom – nearly €23 million;
  • The Netherlands – €23 million;
  • Germany – €60 million;
  • Italy – €10 million.

Germany has also budgeted an additional €50 million for Ukrainian support in 2026.

Practical aid delivered to Ukraine in January included generators and boilers. The European Commission supplied 447 generators for Kyiv and other communities nationwide. Poland provided nearly 400 generators for the Kyiv region, while Italy sent 78 high-capacity boilers. Lithuania contributed 90 generators, and Germany (via GIZ) supplied modular boiler houses with a total capacity of 16 MW. Switzerland allocated up to €500,000 for the Kharkiv and Kyiv regions. Japan provided 140 small and medium-sized generators, 60 transformers, and 2 cogeneration units. France also contributed with over 100 generators totaling 13 MW and other equipment.

Key priorities for ongoing work have been identified as:

  • Expanding decentralized generation for heat and water;
  • Stocking the National Reserve of mobile energy equipment;
  • Creating a bank of critical equipment for rapid response after attacks;
  • Scaling up the physical protection of energy facilities.

These collective efforts are aimed at strengthening Ukraine's energy security amidst ongoing conflict. The international community's solidarity is crucial as Ukraine prepares for another challenging winter, with this support helping to stabilize the country's energy grid and reduce dependence on vulnerable centralized sources.
