U.S. Defense Chief Warns Iran: Military Action Is on the Table
Pentagon Chief’s Remarks
According to Главком: U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has stated that any peace deal with Iran would be beneficial, but he also cautioned that Washington is prepared to use military force if Tehran refuses to accept an agreement that ensures it abandons its nuclear weapons program. Speaking at the Shangri-La Dialogue forum in Singapore, Hegseth noted that President Donald Trump is patiently monitoring the negotiation process.
'I had the chance to speak with President Trump this morning. He wanted me to emphasize once again how patient he is in making sure that when the United States undertakes such historic initiatives, any deal is good-great-and he is patient in pursuing that,' Hegseth said.
He further warned that if Iran is unwilling to reach a deal, it could face the U.S. military. 'We have great people, and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth-the main actor-he loves war… he is a good person,' Trump joked, commenting on Hegseth’s role in U.S. military policy. Hegseth stressed that American armed forces are ready to resume combat operations and that weapons stockpiles are sufficient.
Iran’s Response
In response to these statements, Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei declared that a new order is emerging in the Middle East and asserted that the United States will no longer have safe conditions for its military bases in the Persian Gulf region.
'The United States will no longer have a safe haven for its actions and for establishing military bases in the region, and with each passing day, it is moving further away from its former status,' Khamenei emphasized in a written statement released on May 26.
As a result, tensions between the United States and Iran remain high, with mutual threats and statements indicating a lack of progress in peace talks. Against the backdrop of an escalating conflict, it is crucial to monitor the next steps of both sides, as any developments could significantly impact regional stability and the global political landscape.
