General Staff: SBU and SSO struck four Russian Su-34 at 'Marinovka' airfield
On the night of June 27, Ukrainian forces conducted a successful operation against the Russian airfield 'Marinovka' in the Volgograd region. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the strike aimed to reduce the capabilities of the Russian aggressor to carry out air and bombing strikes on Ukrainian territory.
The operation involved units of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine in coordination with other components of the Defense Forces. Preliminary data indicates that the attack resulted in the destruction of four units of enemy aviation equipment – Su-34 aircraft, as well as the technical operation of the airfield where maintenance and repair of combat aircraft is carried out.
Role of Russian Su-34 in enemy aviation
Russian Su-34s play a key role in the enemy's tactical aviation, regularly conducting missile and bombing strikes on Ukrainian positions and settlements. In the Russian Aerospace Forces, these aircraft are classified as frontline fighter-bombers. The planes are actively used to drop guided aerial bombs, including munitions with planning and correction modules.
The General Staff notes that the extent of damage to enemy aviation equipment and the full results of the defeat are still being clarified.
