According to ДСНС: For years, Igor Chepa, a mountain rescue driver from Ukraine's Zakarpattia region, has been a true hero, participating in dozens of life-or-death operations. His work is vital in a region known for its rugged Carpathian terrain, where he performs tasks ranging from clearing riverbeds to executing complex search and rescue missions in remote, inaccessible areas.

Perilous Rescue Missions

One such operation occurred near Vynohradiv, where three men went mushroom picking in the forest and one became lost. The missing man was found in a forest clearing near the village of Shalanky, surrounded by ferns over two meters tall. Igor Chepa recounts that the man was so exhausted he could not stand up.

"We combed the area all day, and only by evening, together with foresters, did we figure it out: it was a forest clearing with ferns. If it weren't for his phone, he wouldn't have gotten out on his own," said Igor Chepa.

Another rescue mission took place in winter on the Runi mountain pasture, where waist-deep snow, severe frost, strong wind, and zero visibility hampered the search. Unfortunately, the person was found frozen. Igor Chepa also recalls a case where rescuers found a woman hiding in the trees:

"In the darkness, it looked as if she wasn't standing but floating above the tree-a real horror blockbuster. Fortunately, it all ended well: by early morning, the rescuers were returning home with Ms. Maria," said Igor Chepa.

Igor Chepa is not only a professional but also a family man with a wife and two young children, which makes his dangerous work even more significant. His efforts and bravery in saving people under extreme conditions make him a role model. #heroes_without_weapons
