Leadership Changes in Regional Police Forces

According to Главком: Volodymyr Tymoshko has been named the new head of police in Chernihiv Oblast, succeeding in a role that follows his previous tenure as police chief in Kharkiv Oblast from 2022 to 2024. The announcement was made during an official meeting where National Police Chief Ivan Vyhivskyi introduced Tymoshko to the public.

A parallel shift is also taking place in Khmelnytskyi Oblast. Ivan Ishchenko, who previously led the police in Chernihiv Oblast, has taken over as the head of police in Khmelnytskyi Oblast. Meanwhile, Ruslan Herasymchuk has stepped down from his position as police chief in Khmelnytskyi, a role he held for nearly six years since his appointment in July 2020. Herasymchuk had previously served as deputy head of the regional police department before assuming the top post.

Priorities for the New Police Leaders

As the new police chief of Chernihiv Oblast, Volodymyr Tymoshko has outlined his key objectives:

  • ensuring public safety;
  • rapid response to emergencies;
  • documenting war crimes committed by Russia.

For Khmelnytskyi Oblast, Ivan Ishchenko’s leadership priorities will include:

  • maximizing response speed to security threats;
  • documenting Russian war crimes;
  • guaranteeing citizen safety;
  • supporting the Defense Forces;
  • maintaining internal discipline within the system.

The appointments of Volodymyr Tymoshko in Chernihiv Oblast and Ivan Ishchenko in Khmelnytskyi Oblast come at a time when stability and security are paramount amid ongoing challenges. Both leaders bring extensive law enforcement experience, which is expected to enhance their ability to address threats related to war crimes and maintain public order. These changes highlight the police force’s focus on improving safety levels and supporting local communities under difficult circumstances.

In light of recent leadership changes, the appointment of new police chiefs in both Chernihiv and Khmelnytskyi regions underscores the ongoing efforts to address security challenges.
