Bribery Case in Military Housing Construction

According to САП: A case involving a $1.3 million bribe offered to secure a contract for constructing multi-story housing for military personnel and their families in Kyiv has been sent to court by the Prosecutor's Office. The project is located on a plot of land in the capital's Svyatoshyn district, which was allocated to the Central Territorial Department. This case highlights the persistent challenges Ukraine faces in ensuring transparency in its defense and social infrastructure spending.

The indictment against an accomplice in the case has been filed under Part 5 of Article 27 and Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Currently, the indictment concerning the acting head of the department is under consideration by the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC). A guilty verdict against another accomplice has already taken effect, resulting in a real prison sentence.

It is noted that the illicit funds were to be transferred in three installments via bank safe deposit boxes. This case is part of the ongoing efforts by state bodies to combat corruption, a critical issue in the realms of public procurement and construction.
