  • reduce financial burden during the war

  • ensure affordable transport for all population categories

Officials emphasize that free transport has become a significant element of social support.

How free transport works in Kharkiv

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the metro and surface transport resumed operations on May 16, 2022. Since then, travel on municipal buses, trolleybuses, and trams remains free.

Almost 1.2 billion hryvnias has been allocated in the city budget for 2024 for this program. The authorities believe that continuing free transport in 2026 will maintain accessibility for residents.
