According to glavcom.ua: Ukrainian fencer Vlada Kharkova refused to take a photo with Russian soldier Kirill Borodachev after winning the World Championship. This is reported by 'Glavkom'.
Saber fencer Borodachev, who is a Russian military member and a member of the CSKA military club, won a silver medal at the World Championship. During the award ceremony, the prize winners of men's sabre and women's foil were taking a joint photo. However, Kharkova refused to take a picture with the Russian soldier and left the podium.
Gold for Kharkova at the World Championship
Today, July 23, Kharkova sensationally won gold at the World Fencing Championship. In the final, the Ukrainian defeated Olympic champion Katrin Lehis with a score of 15-14 in a tense bout. This award became the first for Ukraine at the World Championship taking place in Tbilisi (Georgia).
- In the semifinals, Ukrainian Kharkova also defeated the number one ranked player and 2022 World Champion Se Ru Song with a score of 15-14.
