Separate Summer and Winter Lists for Critical Facilities

Denys Shmyhal, First Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister, said critical-facility lists will now be drawn up according to season, with separate versions for summer and winter. The goal is to better plan distribution, allocate a larger share of power to household consumers, spread supply more evenly across the regions, and reinforce the stability of Ukraine's integrated energy network.

Heat and Maintenance Raise Concerns

The new arrangements take account of seasonal operating characteristics and power consumption limits. According to Shmyhal, they also allow the system to adapt more flexibly to changing electricity use. Amid forecasts of significantly hotter weather next week, Shmyhal met with the heads of Ukrenergo, Energoatom, Ukrhydroenergo, Naftogaz, and NKREKP. Because scheduled maintenance was already due on some generating units, the Energy Ministry adjusted the repair plans, including at nuclear power plants.
