Storm in the Carpathians: rescuers warn tourists due to hurricane winds

According to glavcom.ua: Dangerous meteorological phenomena have been recorded in the Carpathians. The storm in the mountains prompted a warning from rescuers about the danger to tourists. The Main Department of State Emergency Service in Ivano-Frankivsk region urges caution during mountain hikes.

“Attention tourists! Be careful during your travels. When going to the mountains, keep an eye on weather updates and download the 'Rescue in the Mountains' app for communication with the rescue service,” warns the State Emergency Service.

Rescuers in Prykarpattia also reported the storm in the mountains. Tourists in the area of Mount Pip Ivan Chornohirskyi are advised to be careful due to the natural phenomenon, accompanied by gusts of wind and low temperatures.

Mount Pip Ivan Chornohirskyi is one of the highest peaks of the Ukrainian Carpathians, located at the southeastern end of the Chornohora massif in the Ivano-Frankivsk and Zakarpattia regions.

Forecast for December

According to the forecast, the average temperature in Ukraine in December is expected to range from -3°C to +5°C, which is 2°C above normal. An average amount of precipitation and the possibility of snowfalls are also predicted.

By the end of autumn, further temperature drops are forecasted in Ukraine, with nighttime frosts and daytime temperatures around zero. There is a likelihood of wet snow and fog, which may lead to icy conditions on the roads.

With the worsening weather conditions in the Carpathians, rescuers urge tourists to be vigilant and attentive while traveling in the mountains, as well as to monitor the weather forecast and have a means of communication with the rescue service.
