Kyiv Faces Emergency Power Outages

According to Главком: On June 25, the left bank of Kyiv experienced unscheduled power cuts after receiving an order from NPC Ukrenergo. These blackouts occurred outside the usual rotation schedules, triggered by earlier grid emergencies.

Two days prior, on June 22, emergency shutdowns were reported in the Dnipro and Darnytsia districts of the capital. The disruptions stemmed from an emergency at the Odesa Thermal Power Plant (Odeska TEC). As a result, customers in central Kyiv along with several transport companies lost electricity supply.

Energy Infrastructure Status

The emergency power cuts in Kyiv point to potential weaknesses in the energy infrastructure, exacerbated by recent accidents. The measures implemented by NPC Ukrenergo aim to relieve pressure on the grid and prevent further system failures.

In light of limited resources, the call for cautious electricity use is a critical step toward stabilizing the situation and maintaining energy security.
