According to Главком: Police in the Kyiv region have launched a pre-trial investigation into a house fire in the village of Lavryky that resulted in the death of a 52-year-old man. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU) alerted police to the blaze at the private residence. After firefighters extinguished the flames, the body of the homeowner was discovered inside.

Preliminary information from law enforcement suggests the tragedy may have been caused by smoking in bed. Final conclusions regarding the fire's cause will be provided by SESU specialists following their examinations. Investigators have initiated the pre-trial investigation under Part 2 of Article 270 of Ukraine's Criminal Code, with the procedural guidance of the Bila Tserkva District Prosecutor's Office.

Other Recent Fires in the Kyiv Region

This incident is not isolated in the Kyiv region. In the village of Selyshche, part of the Baryshivka community, another fire claimed the lives of two individuals. During firefighting efforts, the bodies of an 88-year-old man and an 82-year-old woman, the homeowners, were found. Furthermore, on the night of January 14-15, a fire in a private house in the village of Dmytrivka, Bucha district, killed a woman and hospitalized her entire family.

Fatal residential fires have become a pressing concern in the Kyiv region. These incidents highlight the critical importance of fire safety awareness, particularly regarding the dangers of indoor smoking.
