Warning: Dangerous Weather Ahead

According to Главком: A yellow-level weather alert (Level I danger) has been issued by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center for the Kyiv region and the capital city. Thunderstorms are expected to persist through the end of June 6, with conditions worsening on June 7 as heavy rain, hail, and wind gusts reaching 15–20 m/s move in.

On June 6, thunderstorms may disrupt energy, construction, and municipal services, as well as slow down traffic. Forecasters warn that these conditions could negatively impact local infrastructure.

Forecast for June 7

June 7 will bring continued adverse weather across Kyiv and its surrounding areas. During the day, some districts may experience hail, posing risks to road safety and residential zones. This comes as meteorological summer begins in Ukraine this week, while Europe faces record-breaking heatwaves.

These weather events are likely to significantly affect daily life for residents of Kyiv and the region, particularly by complicating transportation and the work of infrastructure maintenance crews. Citizens are urged to follow safety guidelines during thunderstorms and high winds, such as avoiding unnecessary travel.

As the Kyiv region braces for severe thunderstorms and hail, it's important to note that similar weather patterns have recently impacted other parts of Ukraine. For instance, hail and thunderstorms were reported in Western Ukraine just weeks ago, affecting local infrastructure and daily activities. Understanding these trends can help residents better prepare for the challenges ahead.
