End of Stamps in Passports: New Entry Rules Await Ukrainians in the EU

New Entry Rules in the EU
Завершення використовування марок у паспортах: нові правила в'їзду для українців у Європу.

The European Commission has approved the launch of the EU Entry/Exit System (EES) starting from October 12, 2025. This new technological system will track the entries and exits of third-country nationals traveling to 29 EU countries, including associated Schengen countries, for short visits. EES will utilize biometric data such as fingerprints and facial photographs to replace the traditional stamps in passports. The system is aimed at enhancing the EU's border control, preventing illegal migration, and ensuring the safety of European citizens. The phased implementation of the EES will begin on October 12, and EU member states will gradually implement the system over six months. Ultimately, the result will be widespread deployment of the system at all border crossing points. In light of these changes, the EU is scaling up its capabilities for controlling migration processes and ensuring the security of its borders.
