The couple announced their engagement in January 2025, and Yevhen first spoke publicly about their relationship in the fall of 2025, after nine months together.

The ceremony took place during a downpour with thunder, to which Yevhen remarked: “Kateryna says that nature was speaking to us. But I remember that in Ukrainian beliefs, rain was associated with fertility and blessing. So we both happily walked through the puddles.” He also emphasized that the choice of venue was special: “This is a unique Kyiv location, and we decided that we wanted our family to be born right here.”
