The ruling of the HACC's Appeals Chamber, which left the sentence unchanged, was announced on December 2, 2025. Before serving the sentence, Salnikov was placed in the Kyiv pre-trial detention center on December 17.

Prohibitions and Corruption Practices

Moreover, Salnikov is banned from holding positions in state authorities and local self-government for three years. According to Oleg Makar:

“Salnikov is remembered for asking for $5,000 to resolve a matter in the Supreme Court.” - Oleg Makar

This case serves as a vivid example of abuse of power at the managerial level.

The verdict against Oleksiy Salnikov underscores the importance of combating corruption in the upper echelons of Ukrainian power. The abuse of power he demonstrated highlights the issue of corrupt practices that can undermine trust in state institutions. This case could serve as a warning to other officials that abuse of office will not go unpunished.
