Transfer of St. Nicholas Church

According to Кабмін: St. Nicholas Church in Kyiv has been transferred to the Roman Catholic community for use. This decision was made possible thanks to the long efforts of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine and other interested parties. The Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Svyrydenko, confirmed that this historic decision was the result of the work of Tetiana Berezhna, members of parliament, the religious community, and many others involved.

History of the Church

St. Nicholas Church is an object of national cultural heritage. Throughout its history, it has survived a fire during World War II, but withstood new challenges. In 2024, the church was hit by a Russian missile during the full-scale invasion, yet remained standing.

Yulia Svyrydenko noted that 'the enemy failed to divide us along confessional lines,' emphasizing the importance of unity in this difficult time.

The transfer of St. Nicholas Church to the Roman Catholic community is an important step in restoring religious life in Ukraine, especially in the context of military conflicts and challenges that the country faces. This gesture of support also reflects the desire for interfaith unity and cooperation, which is extremely relevant in the context of the current situation in Ukraine.
