Kostyuk suffered a sensational defeat in the first round of Wimbledon

According to glavcom.ua: Maria Kostyuk suffered an unexpected defeat at the beginning of the Wimbledon-2025 tournament and was unable to get past the first round. The Ukrainian lost to Slovenia's Veronica Erjavec in three sets – 6:3, 3:6, 4:6.

Kostyuk won the first set 6:3, but could not maintain her advantage in the following two sets. In the final set, Maria managed to come back from 1:3, but lost the game 4:6. The match lasted 2 hours and 7 minutes, during which Kostyuk recorded 4 aces but did not win a single game on her opponent's serve.
