During this era, it catered primarily to political leaders, providing an extensive range of amenities designed for both leisure and health. Guests enjoyed facilities such as:

• indoor swimming pools
• saunas
• tennis courts
• a ski lift
• restaurants and cafes

The resort’s architecture was notably modern for its time, featuring 11 hotels constructed with glass and aluminum, reflecting the forward-thinking design trends of the mid-20th century.

A Mysterious Role and Decline

Beyond its function as a luxury getaway, Kozubnik is believed to have held a secret strategic purpose. It has been suggested that the resort might have served as a backup command center for Warsaw Pact nations in the event of a major military confrontation. The site frequently hosted party meetings and political conferences, underscoring its significance in the country’s political sphere.

Following the collapse of communism, Kozubnik experienced severe neglect. By 1996, the operating company went bankrupt, leading to the resort’s deterioration. Over time, the once-vibrant complex fell into disrepair, turning into a ghost town that concerned both locals and historians.

Recently, efforts have been underway to gradually restore Kozubnik, aiming to transform it into a contemporary resort and residential area. This redevelopment seeks to reestablish Kozubnik as a key destination on Poland’s tourist map. Authorities and investors are optimistic that the revival will boost the regional economy and revive the resort’s historic prestige.
