KP 'Ternopilelektrotrans' received 8 new low-floor trolleybuses

KP 'Ternopilelektrotrans' has taken on the balance eight new low-floor trolleybuses produced by 'Electron'. The city has already received all 17 vehicles from the first batch purchased with the support of the European Investment Bank. This is reported by Ternopil City Council.

New trolleybuses of Ternopil: what the enterprise received

The decision to accept eight trolleybuses along with consumables and spare parts was made by the city council's executive committee on August 5. After the paperwork was completed, the transport was transferred to the municipal enterprise's balance.

Each new trolleybus is designed for 106 passengers, with 34 seats provided in the cabin. These are low-floor vehicles, making them more accessible for the elderly, passengers with strollers, and people with limited mobility.

The transport is equipped with air conditioning, surveillance cameras, and ramps. The new vehicles are styled in a unified design for public transport in Ternopil: a white-blue color scheme with elements of the city’s symbolism.

Transport upgrade in Ternopil: how many vehicles are planned

The first batch consisted of 17 trolleybuses, and the city has already received it in full. The eight vehicles now accepted are part of this delivery.

In 2027, Ternopil expects to receive another 27 new trolleybuses. Additionally, four more vehicles are planned for purchase. After all deliveries are completed, the city's electric transport fleet will be replenished with 48 modern trolleybuses.

For passengers, this means a gradual replacement of outdated rolling stock. The new vehicles are expected to make travel more comfortable in summer, more accessible for people with limited mobility, and safer due to surveillance systems.

Ternopil is preparing for another review of public transport fares. Carriers have submitted calculations indicating that the cost of a single trip could rise to 26–32 hryvnias, but the city council is currently considering a compromise option with lower fares.
