Working meeting with carriers and exporters

According to Міністерство інфраструктури: On December 20, 2023, Oleksii Kuleba, Vice Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Community and Territorial Development, held a working meeting with carriers and exporters in the Odesa region. The main topic of discussion was issues related to international logistics, domestic freight and passenger transport, as well as the consequences of Russian attacks on Ukraine's transport infrastructure.

Representatives from the transport sector attended the meeting, including Serhiy Derkach, Andrii Kashuba, and Oleksii Balesta. Participants discussed traffic restrictions on certain sections of the road network that resulted from the aggression of the Russian Federation. Oleksii Kuleba emphasized that

"the stable operation of logistics and ports in southern Ukraine is critically important both for the economy of the state and for ensuring the livelihoods of the regions."

Key areas of work

During the meeting, key areas of work were outlined to improve the situation in logistics. Among them:

  • redirecting freight and passenger flows to alternative routes;
  • coordinating actions between government agencies, local authorities, and businesses;
  • ensuring predictable operation of checkpoints;
  • using digital tools for transportation planning.

Participants emphasized the current state and continuity of port operations, as well as logistics connections with them.

Kuleba called for constant communication and information exchange among all participants in the process to ensure effectiveness in addressing the problems arising in wartime conditions.

The conducted meeting underscores the importance of adapting logistics processes in Ukraine in response to the challenges posed by the war. Ensuring uninterrupted transport and port operations is key to supporting the country's economy and delivering goods. The involvement of representatives from business and the state in discussions indicates the necessity of joint efforts to improve the situation amidst restrictions caused by Russia's aggression.
