The State of Ukraine's Currency Market

According to ХВИЛЯ: Ukraine's foreign exchange market has entered the latter half of February in a state of relative equilibrium. As of mid-February, the euro's exchange rate has stabilized, with financial analysts not anticipating any sharp fluctuations in the coming week. This stability can be a positive signal for both investors and consumers in the current economic climate. The market is showing signs of balance, with experts advising individuals to diversify modest savings between the US dollar and the euro.

Research indicates the euro has strengthened on the global stage to a level of $1.19 per euro. Within Ukraine, the exchange rate has settled within a range of 50.76 to 51.25 hryvnias per euro, with the 52 hryvnia mark remaining out of reach for now. The fluctuation dynamics for the upcoming week are expected to mirror those of the previous week.

Financial Experts' Recommendations

Specialist Oleksiy Plotnikov notes that the European Central Bank is likely to try to hold the euro's value below the $1.20 per euro threshold, as a strong euro makes European goods less competitive against American products. Concurrently, financier Bohdan Yaremchuk recommends that investors split their savings for greater security. For example:

  • If you have a hypothetical 10,000 hryvnias, the most prudent move is to purchase $100 and €100.
  • These are the most liquid assets, easily exchanged when needed, which helps preserve capital even in the event of unexpected economic shocks.

Diversifying savings between the dollar and the euro is a strategic step to mitigate risks amid global economic instability. By maintaining liquid assets, Ukrainians can better prepare for potential financial challenges ahead. The euro's stability on the domestic market points to a degree of economic equilibrium being achieved.
