From Latvia to Poltava Region: 77-Tonne Transformer Delivered for Critical Power Repairs
Support for Ukraine Amid the Energy Crisis
According to 5 канал — Економіка: A power transformer and accompanying equipment have been handed over to a critical infrastructure operator in Ukraine's Poltava region. Foreign equipment is urgently needed to repair grid damage and keep critical infrastructure operating. The donation comes from Latvia's transmission system operator, AS Augstsprieguma tīkls, and weighs more than 77 tonnes in total - a clear sign of the substantial support arriving as Ukraine contends with a severe energy shortfall.
The transfer was announced by Ukraine's Ministry of Energy. The equipment was sent from the ministry's hub storage facilities, with logistics support provided through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM). This coordinated effort shows how international partners are working together to deliver aid efficiently.
Scale of International Aid
Since the beginning of the year, partner countries have supplied Ukraine with 4,658 units of energy equipment, and more than 1,200 additional units are expected. Other notable deliveries include over 33 tonnes of protective structures for the energy sector in Kyiv region from Sweden, and 58 tonnes of energy equipment from Germany for four regions.
"We are grateful to the Government of Latvia and AS Augstsprieguma tīkls for their support of Ukraine's energy sector. Special thanks go to the EU Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM) for providing logistics support for this aid delivery!"

This transfer is part of a wider international effort to rebuild Ukraine's energy infrastructure, which has suffered extensive damage during the conflict. The involvement of partners such as Latvia, Sweden, and Germany demonstrates not only their commitment to helping Ukraine, but also the value of collective action in overcoming the country's energy challenges. This is a vivid example of international solidarity in a time of crisis.
As international efforts to bolster Ukraine's energy infrastructure continue, recent deliveries highlight the scale of support being provided. In addition to the transformer from Latvia, nearly €5 million worth of energy equipment has been dispatched to various regions, further demonstrating the collective commitment to assist Ukraine during this critical period.
